    What is B12?

    B12 is a water-soluble vitamin which is vital for normal physiological functioning of the human body.

    Why do we need B12?

    B12 is essential for the metabolism of virtually all cells in the body. It is an essential cofactor in DNA synthesis, particularly the development of the nervous system and production of red blood cells. B12 deficiencies often manifest with neurological problems such as fatigue or memory problems, or it can also present as anaemia (low haemoglobin in our blood).

    Who needs it?

    26% of Australians have subclinical levels of Vitamin B12 and only 2% of the population follow a plant-based diet. It is therefore an issue regardless of the diet you consume so it is important for everyone to be aware of Vitamin B12 deficiencies. How much do you need? Whilst people have different recommendations, the best way is to take 50-100mcg once a day or 1000mcg once a week. This can be sublingual or oral, there is absolutely no difference in absorption.

    Where can you get it from?

    You can get a wholefood plant-based B12 supplement, in the form of a smoothie booster from https://www.behumane.com.au/ formulated by Dr Andrew Little M.D.

    At Garden of Vegan, we have added some of Dr Andrews supplement to our plant-powered bliss balls. We encourage everyone to enjoy one ball a day or every second day dependant on your current B12 Levels. We have made it that easy for you. No more expensive vitamin pills or supplements. Just a whole food plant-based diet and one delicious plant-based ball a day infused with B12.

    The Garden of Vegan B12 Bliss Balls contain;
    -Fortified B12

    -Iodine
    -Omega 3’s

    All four of the above essential nutrients have been considered to be the most important to supplement on a plant-based diet. Irrelevant of your diet, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iodine and Omega 3’s are all essential nutrients that should be consumed regularly and are vital for the healthy functioning of the human body. This is one of the most natural ways to supplement your diet.

    The nutrient rich booster used in our bliss balls is an organic source of Omega 3’s from flax seeds, Iodine from Kelp Powder, Vitamin D3 from Lichen and fortified Vitamin B12.
